The unemployment rate remained at 5.0 percent in June. Approximately 7.5 million individuals were unemployed. Employment increased by 207,000 during June. Unemployment Update – June The unemployment rate fell from 5.1 percent in May to 5.0 percent in June. Slightly fewer than 7.5 million individuals were unemployed. Employment increased by 146,000 during June. The employment and unemployment data for July will be released on August 5. The next full-length lesson will be online September 2 and will discuss the August unemployment rate and changes in employment.
